Lil Baby Booty

Momma on the Floor

Yesterday, we took my Monkey AKA Lil Baby Booty, to his Dr. appointment for a weight check-in. It seems that he is growing in height but not in weight. Actually, at every Well-Visit his weight has decreased. So our Dr. had us come back for a weight check-in to adjust his progress.

Monkey has been eating up a storm and we stuff him to the point where he says "No". We went to the check-in expecting him to have gained a pound or two. That was not the case. Again he lost weight. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but we do feed our son. He has 15 oz of milk everyday, three full meals, snacks in between, and juice/water drink with his dinner. Dr. said we are doing everything right but they are not sure why he does not gain weight.

Monkey is very active, always running around the house, plays outside, and chases the cats. So we just thought that since Mommy & Daddy are average weight and not six feet tall, that he would just be a "little" guy. The nurse said that he may just be predetermined skinny fellow. But just to be sure she would speak to the Dr.

A few minutes latter, the Dr. said she wanted to draw some blood and run a few test to see what the underlying cause for the weight loss may be. That emediatlly had my heart racing and my thoughts wandering.

They took us to a small room in the back, had Monkey streach out his little arms so they could find a vein. Arr. I personally hate needles and seeing blood. Ever since I was a kid I would faint every time they Dr. drew my blood. So you could imagine my face when I the nurse had Monkey lay down on the table and asked me to pin him down. She poked his little skinny arm and he yelled out a small cry and just cried while she took his blood. When the nurse then laid out FOUR tubes to collect his blood I felt my skin turn cold. That looked like a lot of blood to come out of such a little baby boy. (Monkey is 17 months old). Then to top it off his blood was slow to collect at felt like an hour had passed before they were done.

When the nurse said "All done. You did so good"! I was very proud of my Monkey he did not wiggle or squirm on the table. He just quietly cried. I on the other hand started to feel light headed. My brother accompanied us to the Dr. and said he saw my face turn white. I make sure that he had Monkey and I took seat. The room started to spin, my skin felt cold, and I thought I was going to faint!

Here I am a grown woman and I still can not stand the sight of blood. My Monkey took it like a champ! Then my brother said "You know you got dizzy because in reality it IS your blood too".

Today, we did not receive a call but I understand it takes a few days to process. Now we wait for the results. Hope and pray they all come back normal.

  1. I am totally with you on the blood! When I was pregnant with my son they had to use smelling salt on me when I went in for blood work. It was horrible!! I can't stand to see my children hurt either. Breaks my heart! I'll be praying for your little monkey. I'm sure he will be fine. I've always had active, skinny babies too.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am now following you. I'm so glad to have found you! :)
