Review: Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Skincare

I love makeup and I love skin care even more! Anything to help stop the aging process is number one with me. Recently I had the opportunity to review a product that I've mentioned before here on the blog (read the post here)- a new line of bareMinerals Skincare from Bare Escentuals.

Here's a bit about bareMinerals Skincare, from its website:

This 30-day cleanser, moisturizer and eye treatment trio is the perfect introduction to bareMinerals Skincare. Our Purifying Facial Cleanser removes makeup and impurities while also hydrating and renewing skin. Our Purely Nourishing Moisturizer keeps your skin moisturized and protected so you can have younger-looking skin day after day. Our Skincare Firming Eye Treatment, completes your routine, restoring firmness and reducing puffiness around the eye area. All 3 formulas are powered by our 100% pure RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex clinically proven to deliver incredible skin-renewing benefits, including faster cell turnover, smaller-looking pores, increased luminosity and antioxidant protection.

What a power punch! Bare Escentuals has done it again with a breakthrough beauty product. For my review, I received the Naturally Luminous Skin Renewing Trio, collection includes:

• Purifying Facial Cleanser (60 mL / 2 Fl. Oz.)
• Purely Nourishing Moisturizer: Combination Skin (30 mL / 1 Fl. Oz.)
• Skincare Firming Eye Treatment (5 mL)

My Thoughts

After a week of using bareMinerals Skincare products my face is noticeably softer. The Purifying Facial Cleanser is on the thick side and it does not produce a ton of soapy bubbles. But it does its magic and cleaned my skin, taking off my daily make-up and grime. I have a combination skin type more on the oily side and it did not dry my skin out.

The Purely Nourishing Moisturizer is by far my favorite product. Just like the cleanser it goes on thick, non-greasy, and left my skin feeling great. I just wish it contained an SPF in it for those days when you don’t want to ware any make-up. Again, the smell could be improved upon.

The Skincare Firming Eye Treatment cream is light and creamy. I could see a noticeable difference in my puffiness and the skin around my eyes. The skin became softer and firmer.

All of products have a light scent that could be improved on and I wish they contained SPF in them. As a working mom and I don’t have a lot of time to spend on skincare and beauty routines. I look for products that pack a power punch and multitask to quickly show results without requiring a commitment. I was highly impressed with Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Skincare and I’d love to try more of their products.

Disclosure: I received the products discussed above to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.

Mother’s Day & Heart of Haiti

As Mother’s Day is approaching us, I think of the many ways my mother has helped me over the years. My mother has quickly become the entire family matriarch and has done so much our family especially during my aunts illness. She has taken over every aspect of my aunts life and at the same time helped me during my own health scare. Plus she still watches over my son while I'm at work. Superwoman indeed.

Our bond is special that we speak to each other daily just to chat. Why is that so special? Well, because we visit each other daily, she lives five houses down from me and we still talk on the phone. I know that I can always turn to her for anything. Without me even knowing it, over the years my mother has become my best friend.

This Mother’s Day I want to give her a gift that truly gives back as a reflection of her steady support. The Heart of Haiti offers the first sustainable income since the earthquake; artists create handcrafted masterpieces and sell them to support their families. The artisans receive 22% of the retail prices for each item in the collection. The initiative allows people of Haiti to generate income to repair homes, pay for school and clothe their families. We can all help and support Heart of Haiti buy purchasing one their handcrafted masterpieces available at Macy's. To learn more about the Heart of Haiti visit here.

Heart of Haiti is currently offering a limited time 15% off code! You can use it to purchase your Macy's Mother’s Day gift!

Blog absence

Sorry for not writing a blog post. I recently went back to work after a long break. I was pretty much gearing up for the return to work. I was not sure if I was ready to hit it full swing but I'm glad that I did. I realized that I do love to work and have a small break from baby once in a while. Mommy Time.

However, that being said. I do miss my Monkey something terrible. I'm back to calling my mom (Monkey stays over at grandma's house while I work. FREE daycare!!) during my lunch break to hear him babble and see if he learned anything new. When I miss something I am secretly jealous of my mom.

I do like to work, I don't love my job but I want to. I spoke with my best friend over the weekend, a HS teacher, and she went on and on about all the stress she but it's all worth it because she loves her job. I quietly wish i felt the same way about my job. I guess deep down I just want to be a stay at home mom and maybe work part time somewhere. We want to expand our family this year so there is a lot to consider. Then again the bills need to be paid and Monkey needs new clothes, shoes, toys, etc.

Ah, but to dream.

When a Negative Equals a Possitive

In my previous post, which you can read here, I discussed my fears with my son's weight issues. He is a small boy for 17 months and has not gained any weight in the past few months. Last week his doctor took blood samples from his little arm for lab review.

I had the entire weekend for my mind to wander and my heart to race with thoughts of "What IF"! Arr, those two word can really open up a can of worry worms. Early this week I could not stand to wait for the results. I needed to know that my son's health was okay. So being the crazy worry new mommy, I called the office to see if his results arrived. The polite receptionist stated they had and she could not reveal the lab results to me and his doctor would call us back later in the day.

Naturally, that only made me worry more! Why is the doctor calling me and not the nurse? If the doctor is calling it must be bad news right? Again with the crazy worried new mommy syndrome. I made myself have a worry fest. I immediately called my mom and my husband to say a prayer for my monkey and thus made my mom worry a bit as well. But she being a veteran mommy of two, she told me that I was making myself worry too much needed to take a deep breath and relax.

Then a few minutes later my phone rang, it was the doctor! She told me that they received the lab results and they all came back normal. I felt a ton being lifted off my heart and sighed with relief. My monkey is okay and just a small boy. She recommend we put some weight on him with more snacks and a kid friendly fiber/protein shake. (Of which we had bought over the weekend).

Needless to say, Monkey is getting spoiled now a days with both healthy and sweet treats to help put the weight on him. Monkey get your snack on!

Momma on the Floor

Yesterday, we took my Monkey AKA Lil Baby Booty, to his Dr. appointment for a weight check-in. It seems that he is growing in height but not in weight. Actually, at every Well-Visit his weight has decreased. So our Dr. had us come back for a weight check-in to adjust his progress.

Monkey has been eating up a storm and we stuff him to the point where he says "No". We went to the check-in expecting him to have gained a pound or two. That was not the case. Again he lost weight. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but we do feed our son. He has 15 oz of milk everyday, three full meals, snacks in between, and juice/water drink with his dinner. Dr. said we are doing everything right but they are not sure why he does not gain weight.

Monkey is very active, always running around the house, plays outside, and chases the cats. So we just thought that since Mommy & Daddy are average weight and not six feet tall, that he would just be a "little" guy. The nurse said that he may just be predetermined skinny fellow. But just to be sure she would speak to the Dr.

A few minutes latter, the Dr. said she wanted to draw some blood and run a few test to see what the underlying cause for the weight loss may be. That emediatlly had my heart racing and my thoughts wandering.

They took us to a small room in the back, had Monkey streach out his little arms so they could find a vein. Arr. I personally hate needles and seeing blood. Ever since I was a kid I would faint every time they Dr. drew my blood. So you could imagine my face when I the nurse had Monkey lay down on the table and asked me to pin him down. She poked his little skinny arm and he yelled out a small cry and just cried while she took his blood. When the nurse then laid out FOUR tubes to collect his blood I felt my skin turn cold. That looked like a lot of blood to come out of such a little baby boy. (Monkey is 17 months old). Then to top it off his blood was slow to collect at felt like an hour had passed before they were done.

When the nurse said "All done. You did so good"! I was very proud of my Monkey he did not wiggle or squirm on the table. He just quietly cried. I on the other hand started to feel light headed. My brother accompanied us to the Dr. and said he saw my face turn white. I make sure that he had Monkey and I took seat. The room started to spin, my skin felt cold, and I thought I was going to faint!

Here I am a grown woman and I still can not stand the sight of blood. My Monkey took it like a champ! Then my brother said "You know you got dizzy because in reality it IS your blood too".

Today, we did not receive a call but I understand it takes a few days to process. Now we wait for the results. Hope and pray they all come back normal.

Celebrate Mother’s Day with Tiny Prints

Mother's Day is my new favorite Holiday! Love shopping for gifts for my mother and grandmother. Any excuse to shop works for me. Being a new mommy, Mother's Day has more meaning than just another holiday.

My best Mother's day was last year because it was my first Mother's Day. I did receive a few cards from family and friends while pregnant with Lil' Baby Booty. However, it just didn't feel the same as when I celebrated it with him in my arms.

Last year I did not expect anything from family or my hubby. It was a quite day with my family simply celebrating a new chapter in my life. Then I received a call from my mother to stop by her house. So we all packed up the stroller and took a walk to Grandma's House. (My parents live five doors down from us on the same street. Crazy, right? But a true blessing). To my surprise my aunt Anna had flowers delivered to both my mother and myself for Mother's Day. They were the most beautiful flowers arranged in a simple basket with a card from her. Lots of pink, yellow, and purple flowers that smelled so sweet. I called her up right away to thank her for the thoughtful gift.

It really touched my heart that she took the time to think of us and remember this was a new Holiday for me to celebrate. Looking back now it's very bitter sweet because my aunt is battling stage four cancer right now and she may not live to celebrate our next Mother's day with us. So that is why last year was my BEST Mother's Day.

This Mothers Day, Tiny Prints is your place to shop to make any mom in your life feel like a special lady. Tiny Prints has an exceptionally huge selection of Mothers Day Cards for any mom, mommy friends, mother-in-law, grandmothers, and more. You want to tell her she’s doing a great job as a mom or thank her for being there for you? They have the card for it!

Tiny Prints provides simple, modern and unique stationery from Fathers Day Cards to personalized greeting cards to thank you cards, business cards, and even custom wedding invitations or photo birth announcements. Offering exclusive designs from the nation’s top designers, easy card personalization, a powerful preview engine and top-notch customer service and paper quality, their designs have been lauded by numerous television networks, publications and celebrities. With Tiny Prints by your side commemorating every holiday and momentous occasion is a cinch! They offer perfect party invitations for every occasion and memorable personalized photo-gifts like notebooks, photo books and calendars to commemorate the event.

As an extra bonus, from April 6th to April 12th, all Mother’s Day Greeting Cards will be $.99 cents and you can also sign up for a Free Greeting Card Membership, giving you three FREE cards to use right away, as well as discounts on future cards.

Disclosure: No monetary compensation was received for this post. I will be receiving a free product certificate for sharing this with you. All opinions above are my own.

Yanni's New Album Truth of Touch

I enjoy listing to new and relaxing music so I jumped at the chance to review Yanni's New Album Truth of Touch. I found his new album to be just that relaxing! A perfect complement to my afternoon routine. I found myself hitting the replay button a few times while doing my regular house work. I enjoyed listing to Seasons and Voyage. Each track is wonderfully composed with upbeat and relaxing rhythm and tempo. This is Yanni's first instrumental release of original compositions in over eight years and is a return to the genre Yanni helped create and advance.

“I work the rhythms in this album,” explains Yanni about the new material. “There is a beautiful complexity in these rhythms, a new sound design. I think the melodic content is very strong and very memorable. I was having fun with this album and that’s going to become apparent.”

On March 22, Yanni launched a 40-date tour of the US. The tour will take him through theaters in major cities across the US including Radio City Music Hall in NYC and the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
