I know most of my followers are not "gear heads" but if you've ever love something so much it makes your heart skip a beat, then you can relate.
I love fast American muscle cars. There it is, I've said it and I'm proud! So It's not the "Greenest Car" but, I love the feeling of horsepower and the sound of a powerful exhaust! Sorry, "Green" cars right now don't come with that "sound package". Growing up my dad was a mechanic and thus my love of cars began.
When I turned 15 my family gave me a choice of having a Quinceanera or a car. In the Hispanic community a Quinceanera is like a Sweet 16 party or coming of age party. It's a REALLY BIG deal and pretty much like a mini wedding day. Full Princess dress, crown, tiered cake, wedding party, etc. My family was all for it and it was pretty much expected I would have one.
Well, I chose the car! I thought why pay so much money for a one day event and the next day it's over? A car was more economical and would take me to college. (Even then I had a frugal mind!) So rather than get a four door family like car, I got a 89 Chevy Camaro. I loved that car and it sat in my driveway until I was 16 and old enough to drive it. I had that car before I had my drivers license. Then came my 93 Chevy Camaro which was my graduation present and took me to college.
When I graduated College and got my first real job, I brought a Pontiac Firebird. Which I too loved, but deep down I really wanted the WS6 package, meaning more horsepower. So the following year, I brought it!
Once I got pregnant my car was put to the wayside and we purchased a SUV. Again not so Green but it worked for us. So my lovely car sat idle in the drive way for almost two years. Then, the DH car broke down and it was cheaper to fix my car than his.
A set of new tires, oil change, filter replacement, new brake pads, and she's ALIVE once again. Today, the DH is getting her new plates, registered, inspection, and adding her back to the insurance.
Can I just say that I LOVE my DH!! His a handsome gear head who comes cheap on labor!
