Five summer getaways every kid should experience
1) Visit the Beach at Port Aransas, TX. Located just a few miles from us Port Aransas, TX is a really nice family place to take the kids. It’s away from all of the tourist places so that it’s not crowed during the summer and there events to attend. Have a family picnic on the beach, search for seashells, build a sandcastle, ride the ferry, and fishing on the piers are just a few of the activities we’d plan to do with Monkey.
2) Visit a Camping Ground. Guadalupe River State park is a short drive from our house and would be a perfect local place to camp. Children can learn all about the world outside of their backyard when they camp. They can view wild life, have a camp fire, picnic, go on hiking trails, float down the river, and sleep under the stars.
3) Visit a great Waterpark. We are lucky to have Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort near us because it has been voted on of the best waterparks anywhere. It was even on ABC’s Good Morning America a few years back. It’s a money saver as well because you can bring your own picnic for the kiddos. They have attractions for the whole family and even the little ones like Monkey.

4) Visit Texas History. The Alamo is a quick drive for us to make a day tip and history getaway. I’ve been to the Alamo many times and love to learn new stories each time we visit. Take a stroll along the Riverwalk and dine or shop the local shopping sites along its path. Take a quick ride on the river trolley for a guided tour on this history of San Antonio, TX.

5) Visit the Zoo! We’re currently on a Zoo tour for Monkey. It’s a great education way for him to learn about all of the animals that he sees in his picture books. Plan a day trip at a local city and visit the zoo, learn about the animals, visit exhibits, visit the petting zoo, take a train ride, and plan a picnic. It’s a great little add on to any summer vacation and one that will keep the kiddos occupied.
What are your family vacation plans this summer?
