I love to buy organic fruit and veggies but the cost can be so high. If you have the space and time you should really consider having your own backyard garden. Every year I keep telling my self we have to plant a garden this year and it never comes to life. We try to buy at our local Farmer's Market but the really good stuff sell out quickly.
Thus the next best option for us is the grocery store. So when is organic worth the extra money? The new 2012 "Dirty Dozen" list is available - this is the list of the fruits/veggies with the most pesticide residue. You don't have to buy everything organic but just keep to the list and your get more bang for your buck. Just a rule of thumb I use, if the peal/skin is thin you should buy organic. Thin skin means the pesticide can easily penetrate the fruit or veggie. For more info
